Sueq50 I don't know where to buy the butterflies you mentioned but years ago I made a butterfly cake for a child's 5th birthday (5 butterflies on it I drew very simple butterfly shapes on parchment paper with marker pen, simple bold pattern on wings. Turn paper over, using marker pen means design shows through. Put boiled sweets in a bag and break up with a rolling pin. Be very careful from now on, either put in suitable container and "melt" in microwave or melt in a pan. lightly oil the shape and using teaspoon put a small amount of melted sweet into the shape on the paper. Put a cocktail stick on the body of the butterfly you can use this to lift the butterfly off and to stand on cake. Hope this helps

now why does everyone need to get new recipes for so called cup cakes when all they are is the american name for fairy cakes. The basic recipe has been around in blighty for years so any old cook book your mother/grandmother used will have the recipe. It's easy to adapt and add different flavours. I think these days we rely too much on precise ingredients and are too frightened to experiment and look at the old books. I suppose it's 'baking fashion' at the mo but haven't cup cakes become old hat now anyway?
