Re: Newbie here: )

Hello Ellen,
How did the hand- made bread turn out? My partner and I make almost all our own bread now and it tastes so much better than that mass produced stuff. Trouble is, it tastes so good that we eat a lot of it!
By the way, I'm fairly new to this site too. I'm Joy, 53 yrs, no children, but I have spent years in childcare, currently working with newborn babies!
I look forward to hearing from you again !

Hi Joy
Thank you for your reply.

It didnt turn out that great, it looked good but was a little doughy inside. The one i made in the maker using a recipe from here turned out great and was lovely.

Nobody here is being intentionally rude.

If you look at almost any message, you will see that there are far more views than there are replies. This is to be expected. Many of the "views" will be by forum members who are just skimming the messages, but don't feel any special reason to respond. Others might be people who are not regular forum visitors but who stumble across a message, perhaps in a Google results page or something similar.

Also, only 25 hours elapsed between your first message and your follow-up. This is not a hugely busy forum, and it's quite common for it take a day or two for replies to trickle in. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just the way it works.

Now that you have started to see some responses to your original post, I hope you will agree that the people in this form are not particularly rude. I'm sure you'll find plenty of friendly, like-minded folk to talk to.

By the way, I'm also fairly new here. I've only been a member for a few weeks, but I've already found this forum valuable. I'm sure you will too.

Re: Newbie here: )

Hiya Ellen,

Welcome to the site!!  I'm Diane and also a SAHM to a 5 year old.  I haven't been brave enough to try bread yet, I'm a cake maker at heart.

I think there needs to be a proper  thread on here for members to introduce themselves so we can all get to know each other a bit better - I have quite a few really good friends whom I met on a family forum and we're like we've known each other for years and meet up as often as we can so it would be lovely to chat more about everyday life on here!!

Anyway, enough waffling......hope your bread making is getting better!! xx

Re: Newbie here: )

Toffeelady, I agree with you about the need for a way for people to introduce themselves. In fact, I'd go further. Rather than a separate thread, we need a separate section. Most forums have this. It is usually called something like "Say Hello" or "Introduce yourself".

When I joined the forum a few weeks ago, it was the first thing I looked for. If I remember right, I posted my introductory message under "Baking club", simply because I couldn't see any alternative.
