i have a breville bread machine is it better to have digital scales,i thought the bread would toast better it can be quite crunchy.the hand book says to put the yeast in last,but could i put it in first

As long as your scales are accurate it doesn't matter what sort they are. I have a cookworks machine and the toast is also very crunchy but that's how I like it. I don't Know why ingredients have to go in a certain order when they are well mixed.
I believe the reason to put the yeast in last is so that it doesn't start reacting with the liquids too soon - before all the other dry ingredients are properly mixed. But I'm not sure what the logic of that is.
Regarding the scales, as Stoney John says, it doesn't make any difference. 500 grams of flour will still weigh 500 grams, regardless of what type of scale you use.

I have a Panasonic breadmaker and the yeast is the first thing in and water is last!
Out of interest I use a small Salter digital scale and it is superb!
The whole breadmaker bowl goes on the scale and each measure goes in as per instruction and changing from grammes to ml is just a push of the button.
At first I did not trust the scale for accurate liquid measure but it was always spot on and that is all I use now!
