Re: decorating a cake

hi madbaker

have a look at the wilton site its brill
they do a pan like a ball that you could use for a teapot
i would make the spout and handle out of icing and leave to dry for a couple of days before attaching i also find kids  sweet cigarettes stick invaluable as they are edible so insert half in spout half in cake
thats what i would do but i too am a novice

hope this helps

Re: decorating a cake

Don't spend money on a pan you may only use once.  Bake several layers of sponge (madeira is better for carving) and cut the shape of the pot out.
I would also make the spout and handle from Mexican paste (modelling paste) and leave to dry before attaching to the pot - after it has been iced of course!

I make novelty cakes too.  Just use a pudding basin the size of cake you want and because it will rise in the basin you should just have to cover with sugarpaste and add a teapot 'knob' to the naturally baked 'lid'.  As already said candy sticks (I knew them as sweet cigarettes) are a good option to attach a sugarpaste or modelling paste 'spout'.  If you add a little gum trag to the sugarpaste (about 1tsp to 500g s/paste) the spout will become firm but still edible if you want.  This way you have a good surface to cover without the crumbs from cutting!  Good luck and post your results.

Re: decorating a cake

you get  new design and make the cake different from other, you have to get new and latest deign from the net.

use the your own brain and compels 2 design into 1 design.
