Topic: maple syrup
hi, what can i substitute instead of maple syrup in a cake recipe. the cake i am making is out of a mary berry book and it uses pecans and maple syrup.

Assuming you're in the UK, it is now possible to buy "real" maple syrup quite easily.
I'm not talking about the cheap substitutes, which are essentially a thin version of Tate & Lyle's Golden Syrup in a plastic bottle. Tesco sell a genuine maple syrup from Quebec in their Tesco Finest range, and I imagine other supermarkets do to.
Similarly, you should be able to buy pecans in any large supermarket.
