Topic: Banoffee pie

I tried to make Banoffee pie (Baking Mad . com recipe) but when I tried to convert a tin of carnation condensed milk into carnation caramel in the microwave oven it turned out like toffee and I could'nt put the knife through it.  Is there anywhere I can buy Carnation Caramel or Dulche du Leche already made or prepared.

I make mine on the hob as there is more control than the microwave.  It will thicken as it cools so make sure you put it on your pie as soon as it thickens.  You can buy it already done in tins but I always have to search for it as not many stores stock it.

You can get it in Sainsburys as well. Carnation make it I think
