A friend who needed some tea and sympathy came this afternoon. Knowing her love of home baking and needing a quick treat for her, I thought I would try one packet of the Easy Bake Yeast in a batch of Crumpets
I make them normally using an old-fashioned sourdough recipe, which takes about 5 hours to ferment. Using the Easy Bake Yeast the fermentation phase took about 30 minutes. The end result was very tasty, but with a slightly finer texture than with sourdough and needed slightly longer cooking for the bubbles to burst. Very good and much enjoyed by everyone, but different to our usual crumpets. Definitely a plus for the Easy Bake Yeast if one is in a hurry. Thank you very much to Allinsons for the excellent recipe and the free yeast.
Now, what shall I bake with the other packet?
