Topic: cinnamon rolls

I just spent hours making my first batch of cinnamon rolls. Now they are out of the oven they look like rather measly dough balls. The Yeast has let me down and i feel a bit deflated myself.
There is lots of shelf life still left on the little tin. I suppose it is still dead.
Anyone got an idea why else it has all gone south?
Going to try a new batch on Friday as I wont give up so easy. I love these little things after spending lots of time in Skandinavia.

Re: cinnamon rolls

If the tin of yeast was opened a long time ago then there is a chance that it might not be active anymore. You say you spent hours making them so I'm going to assume that you gave the dough long enough to double in size on each proving, if not then that could be something to consider next time. Also you might want to check the temperature of the water used as if it's too hot the yeast will die and if it's too cold then it will take longer to work. It should be around body temperature i.e. so if you dip a finger in you can only just feel heat.

Hope this helps and good luck with your next batch
