Tabasco Cup Cakes Ingredients

250 grams Butter Softened
250 grams Caster Sugar (Silver Spoon Homegrown) Caster Sugar (Silver Spoon Homegrown)
4 Free Range Eggs Free Range Eggs
1 tbsp Cocoa Powder
3 tsp Vanilla Extract (Nielsen Massey) Vanilla Extract (Nielsen Massey)
225 grams Self Raising White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly) Self Raising White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly)
5 tbsp Milk Milk
2 tsp TABASCO Sauce

How to make Tabasco Cup Cakes

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C / Gas 6. method tip
  2. Put the paper cases in the bun trays and leave to one side. method tip
  3. In a bowl, mix together the butter and sugar until it is smooth and creamy. method tip
  4. Gradually add the eggs until they are all beaten in. method tip
  5. Add the cocoa powder and vanilla. Then very gradually add all of the flour, before slowly mixing in the milk and Tabasco until it makes a smooth paste.
  6. Gradually fill each bun case up half way with the cake mixture and put them in the oven for 15-20 minutes until they are light brown. method tip
  7. Once the cakes are done take them out of the oven and place the trays on a wire rack to cool completely before icing with your favourite icing recipe. method tip
  8. Decorate with cherries!!

"Very simple recipe to follow and the cakes came out great. I may have added a bit too much tabasco (more than recommended) while others couldn't tell I could pick up the taste quite clearly. Nice little kick to them, heat comes through for little bit in the aftertaste."
