Sausage Rolls Ingredients

450 grams Sausages good quality
Salt
Pepper
Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly) Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly)
450 grams Puff Pastry, ready made
1 Happy Eggs beaten Happy Eggs

How to make Sausage Rolls

  1. Heat the oven to 200°C, 400°F, Gas 6. Grease a baking tray. method tip
  2. Run the sausages under a cold tap then slit each one with a sharp knife and slip off the skins.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll the puff pastry out into a large rectangle, then cut into two long rectangles.
  4. Place a row of skinned sausages down the middle of each pastry rectangle, then brush each with beaten egg on one edge. method tip
  5. Fold the other side of the pastry over onto the egg-washed edge. Press down to seal and trim any excess. Cut each pastry roll into 4 sausage rolls.
  6. Place the sausage rolls on the baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes until crisp and golden and the sausage meat is completely cooked through. method tip
  7. Place on a serving plate and sprinkle with the chives.

"I make these all the time, but I use a good quality sauseage meat and mix the chives with the meat before wrapping in the pastry. A bit more fiddly but I think worth the effort."
