Mince Meat and Apple Strudel Ingredients

3 Apples cooking, large
85 grams Mixed Dried Fruit
1 tsp Mixed Spice
150 ml Sweet Cider
1 tbsp Dark Rum
6 Filo Pastry Sheets (30cm x 20cm)
1 Happy Eggs beaten Happy Eggs
1 tbsp Half Spoon Granulated Sugar (Silver Spoon) Half Spoon Granulated Sugar (Silver Spoon)

How to make Mince Meat and Apple Strudel

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C, 400°F, Gas Mark 6. method tip
  2. Peel, core and slice the apples into a bowl of salted water to prevent them from turning brown. Rinse with fresh water and drain then place in a saucepan with the dried fruit, spice and cider.
  3. Simmer gently for 10 minutes until the apple starts to soften. Remove from heat and stir in the rum and allow to cool.
  4. Place one filo pastry sheet onto a tea towel and brush with beaten egg.
  5. Add the remaining sheets, one at a time, brushing each layer with beaten egg.
  6. Spread the fruit mixture over the pastry, leaving a 2.5cm boarder around the edge.
  7. Sprinkle with the Silver Spoon Low Calorie sweetener then fold in the two short sides and roll up like a swiss roll.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven for 20 minutes until golden brown. method tip
  9. Serve hot dusted with icing sugar.
