Spelt Soda Bread Ingredients

280 grams stoneground spelt flour
280 grams Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly) Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly)
1 tsp Bicarbonate Of Soda rounded
1 tsp Salt rounded
0.50 tsp Cream of tartarm, half a rounded
1 Happy Eggs large Happy Eggs
284 ml Buttermilk
116 ml Milk semi skimmed Milk

How to make Spelt Soda Bread

  1. Preheat the oven to 230°C. Put the flour into a large bowl and mix well. Sift in the soda, cream of tartar and salt. Mix method tip
  2. Pour your buttermilk and milk into a measuring jug. Crack the egg into the mixture and bet well. method tip
  3. Make a well in the centre of the flour. Pour in the milk and egg mixture and quickly mix in the flour to make a soft dough. method tip
  4. Turn onto a floured surface and form the dough into a flat ball about 2" thick. Cut a cross on the top. Put in the centre of your preheated oven for twenty minutes. Then turn the temperature down to 200°C for a further 25-30 minutes.
