Try these fruity nutty scones with a crunchy Billingtons Demerara sugar topping!  So quick to make for anytime.  Delicious served with fresh cream and homemade jam!

Walnut and Apple Scones Ingredients

225 grams Self Raising White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly) Self Raising White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly)
40 grams Butter cold
1.50 tbsp Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's) Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's)
25 grams Walnuts chopped
1 Apple(s) eating, peeled cored and diced
150 ml Milk plus a little extra for brushing Milk
2 tbsp Demerara Sugar (Billington's) Demerara Sugar (Billington's)

How to make Walnut and Apple Scones

  1. Preheat the oven to 220˚C/424F/Gas mark 7. method tip
  2. Sift the flour into a large bowl and rub in the butter, using the fingertips. method tip
  3. Stir in the sugar, walnuts and apple. method tip
  4. Pour in the milk and using a knife mix it until it comes together to form a dough. method tip
  5. Turn out on to a floured work surface and knead very briefly just to bring it all together.
  6. Roll to a thickness of about 2 cm then, using a round cutter, cut out the scones. Re-roll the dough and cut again, until you have used it all. method tip
  7. Place the scones onto a baking sheet and sprinkle with demerara sugar. Bake for 12-15 minutes method tip
