How To Create Stained Glass Biscuits

Method

1. Roll out your biscuit dough to approximately the thickness of a £1 coin. Using a cutter stamp out your first shape in the dough and then using a smaller cutter stamp a smaller shape inside.

2. Divide up your sweets into the different colours and place each colour in a freezer bag. You may want to double bag as the shards of sweets may tear the first bag. Using a rolling pin bash the sweets with some force to crush them into small pieces, alternatively you could blitz them in a food processor. 

3. Carefully place the biscuit dough (having removed the centre dough) onto a baking tray lined with baking paper and fill the centre of each biscuit with the crushed boiled sweets. Using a straw or a skewer poke a small hole in the top of each biscuit before baking. This will allow you to thread through some string or ribbon once baked to hang on your Christmas tree. 

4. Once the biscuits have baked allow them to cool and the boiled sweet filling to set before transfering on to a wire cooling rack. Mix together some icing sugar and water to create icing and pipe designs on to your biscuits. Once fully cooled you can thread ribbon through the holes and decorate your tree.
