About the bake
Decorate your house and tree this Christmas with these cute little Gingerbread characters. These are great fun to make with all of the family and you can use pretty ribbon to compliment your tree decorations.

Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan, 350°F, gas mark 4). Line 2 baking trays with non-stick baking paper.
Step 2
Sift the flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger and cinnamon into the bowl of a food processor.

- 350gAllinson's Plain White Flour
- 1 tspBicarbonate of soda
- 2 tspGround ginger
- 1 tspGround cinnamon
Step 3
Add the butter and whiz until the mix resembles breadcrumbs and then stir in the sugar.

- 175gBillington's Unrefined Light Muscovado Sugar
Step 4
Lightly beat the egg and golden syrup together, then add to the food processor and pulse to make a dough. Leave to chill for 15 minutes.

Step 5
Roll out on a lightly floured surface to ½ cm thick. Cut out with gingerbread cutters and put on a baking tray, leaving a gap between them. Using a straw punch out two holes in the centre of the gingerbread man - this is where your string will be threaded.
Step 6
Bake for about 15 minutes. Leave on the tray for 10 minutes then move to a wire rack to finish cooling. When cooled decorate.
Step 7
Carefully thread a thin ribbon between the holes in each gingerbread man attaching them all together and string up as a decoration.
