About the bake
There is something so simple but indulgent about a Rice Krispie Squares. A family friendly recipe that you can bake along with the kids, but this recipe has more of an adult twist to it with a cheeky layer of Proper Nutty peanut butter and topped with rich chocolate.
Ingredients
- 230gRice krispies
- 400gLarge marshmallows (white)
- 70gMelted butter
- 140gProper Nutty peanut butter
- 200gChocolate (milk or dark)
Method
Step 1
Prepare a square baking tin by lining it with greaseproof paper.
Step 2
Measure the Rice Krispie out into a large bowl and keep to one side.
Step 3
In a heatproof bowl melt the butter and pour in with the Rice Krispies.
Step 4
If using large marshmallows chop in half using scissors or tear with your hands and place in a microwavable bowl with 2-3 tbsp of water and microwave for 2 minutes, in 30 seconds bursts, stir between each one. Alternatively, you could melt in a saucepan on a medium heat over a hob.
Step 5
Pour the melted marshmallow into the Rice Krispies bowl, using a spatula to clear any excess off the sides. Mix all the ingredients together until fully combined.
Step 6
Pour the mixture into the lined square baking tin and use the spatula to smooth down the top. Place in the fridge to chill for 30-40 minutes to set.
Step 7
Once they have set, spread a layer of peanut butter on the top and leave to one side.
Step 8
Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and pour over the top of the peanut butter and leave to cool before moving to the fridge to set.
Step 9
To achieve a smooth finish when slicing the krispie squares, heat the knife under warm water before cutting.
