About the bake
Our simple Cherry Biscuits (or Cookies) are a sweet treat from Cornwall. We've used the classic combination of cherries and dark chocolate to make a really decadent biscuit. The biscuit mix is made using a very simple method of creaming together the butter and sugar and then bringing together the dough with your hands.
Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200C (fan 180C, gas mark 6) and line a couple of baking sheets.
Step 2
Using an electric whisk cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 3
Whisk in the golden syrup and then stir in the flour, baking powder, cherries, chocolate and milk until a firm dough is formed, you may need to use your hands to bring together. Tip - place the tablespoon measure in boiling water for 30 seconds then measure out the golden syrup and you will find the syrup just slips off the spoon.
Step 4
Using your hands roll the dough into 20 walnut sized balls. Place slightly apart from each other on lined baking sheets as they will spread a little and press each one lightly with a fork.
Step 5
Bake in the oven for 12 minutes until golden. Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
