About the bake

This is a traditional flapjack recipe full of delicious strawberries.

    Method

    1. Step 1

      Heat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C, gas mark 4). Put the butter and sugar together in a bowl and mix together. Stir in the flour.

      • 100gUnsalted butter (softened)
      • 100gBillington's Unrefined Light Muscovado Sugar
      • 150gPorridge oats
    2. Step 2

      Add the golden syrup and mix well.

      • 2 tbspSilver Spoon Golden Syrup
    3. Step 3

      Stir in the porridge oats and the chopped strawberries.

      • 150gStrawberries (washed, chopped & gently dried)
      • 50gAllinson's plain white flour
    4. Step 4

      Spoon the mix into a slightly greased 20cm shallow round baking dish and press down to cover the bottom of the dish. Bake for 20-25 mins or until the flapjack in golden brown and bubbling.

    5. Step 5

      Leave to go cold in the baking dish and then cut into wedges and serve cold with a dollop of clotted cream if liked.

    Made these for the first time yesterday and added 70gms of raisins and cranberries instead of strawberries. Passed the grandson test (7 years old) when he tried a piece and that says it all.
