This bread is the perfect nutty, chocolatey loaf you need in your life. If you've overdone the banana bread, or are simply looking for a tasty twist to your sweet loaves, then you will love our Chocolate Chip & Walnut bread - simple to make, and yummy with a cup of tea.

Made with Allinson's Very Strong White Bread flour, this loaf holds it's shape, but its fluffy and light - filled with roughly chopped walnuts and dark chocolate chips, this easy sweet dough recipe is great for breakfast on the go, or serving up your own home-baked coffee shop goodies.

We use Billington's Unrefined Golden sugar in this recipe, which gives the bread a deliciously warm buttery taste and golden colour on the top. Feel free to make this Chocolate Chip & Walnut Cake your own by switching out the walnuts for pecans or macadamia nuts, or the chocolate chips for broken up bits of your favourite chocolate treat.

    Method

    1. Step 1

      Put the flour, sugar, salt, chocolate chips, walnuts and yeast into a bowl.

      • 450gAllinson's very strong white bread flour
      • 1 1/4 tspBillington's unrefined golden granulated sugar
      • 1 tspSalt
      • 75gDark chocolate chips
      • 55gWalnuts (roughly chopped)
      • 1Allinson's Easy Bake Yeast Sachet
    2. Step 2

      Mix to a soft dough with the egg, butter and milk.

      • 3 tbspButter (unsalted, melted)
      • 200mlMilk
    3. Step 3

      Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes.

    4. Step 4

      Shape as desired and put into an appropriate greased tin.

    5. Step 5

      Leave to prove until double in size. Preheated the oven to 220°C (fan 200°C, gas mark 7).

    6. Step 6

      Place in the oven and immediately turn the heat down to 200°C (fan 180°C, gas mark 6).

    7. Step 7

      Bake for 30-35 minutes.
