These super-simple, easy American-style pancakes are light, fluffy and perfect for an indulgent breakfast. Whip up our American pancake recipe in only 10 minutes, stack them and serve with syrup, bacon or fresh fruits.
<h3>What's the main difference between British and American pancakes?</h3>
The&nbsp;difference between British and American pancakes is that American-style pancakes use a raising agent - typically baking powder, whipped egg white, or both to make them thick and fluffy. We've used both in our recipe below.
<h3>How to get fluffy American pancakes:</h3>
We recommend doing the following to get super-fluffy pancakes:
- Allow your batter to rest before frying.
- Separate the egg yolk from the white initially. Beat your egg whites until they form stiff peaks, then combine the egg yolks with the rest of your ingredients - gently fold in the whipped egg whites last.
- Don't over-mix your batter, as you'll knock the bubbles out which causes the pancakes to rise. &nbsp;

American Pancakes Recipe

Our friend Antony Amourdoux has created a delicious twist on a classic Indian recipe. Ras Malai&nbsp;is the ultimate Diwali treat and boasts a consistency similar to cheesecake, but without the crust. Antony has created a wonderfully flavoured Victoria sponge with cardamom and vanilla. He's then topped it with a complementing rasberry chantilly cream.&nbsp;&nbsp;
When making the Ras Malai, it needs to chill in the fridge for 5-6 hours, or better yet, overnight. So make sure you plan the time ahead to make this recipe.

A fantastic taste of the Caribbean. These Jamaican Beef Patties are a really good alternative to Cornish Pasties and they pack in the flavour. Serve your patties with traditional Caribbean Hardo Bread or simply have as a snack on their own. The wholemeal flour adds a light nutty taste to compliment the meaty filling and if you can handle the heat you can add some Scotch Bonnet peppers to the beef filling.

Shokupan, also known as Japanese milk bread, is a type of <a href="https://www.bakingmad.com/recipes/milk-loaf">milk bread</a> made using the traditional Yudane method. This patented technique mixes involves mixing boiling water with flour and letting it rest overnight, to create a super-hydrated dough and delicately soft bread.
<h3>Is shokupan similar to brioche?</h3>
Shokupan is similar to brioche. Both are light, delicate and soft breads, made with butter kneaded through to give a sweet flavour.
<h3>Can I toast shokupan?</h3>
Shokupan is delicious when toasted. We'd recommend cutting a thick slice and topping it with butter or your favourite jam. You can also slice your shokupan bread to use as a sandwich.

With a sweet touch of Vietnamese flavour from the pandan paste, expect fluffy coconutty waffles, with a crispy outer texture - and to top that off, their vibrant green colour makes these waffles look even more unique than they taste.
