About the bake

This a yummy alternative to a traditional fruit crumble using sweet pears and an almond and amaretti biscuit  topping. Delicious served with a drizzle of cream or custard.

8 ingredients8 steps

    Method

    1. Step 1

Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C, gas mark 5).

    2. Step 2

Slice the pears. Toss together with 15g of Half Spoon sugar and the lemon juice.

    3. Step 3

Place in a 1.1 litre (2 pint) shallow ovenproof dish and drizzle over the reserved natural pear juice.

    4. Step 4

Roughly crumble the amaretti biscuits, making sure they do not become too powdery.

    5. Step 5

Mix with flour the remaining Half Spoon sugar, toasted flaked almonds and ground cinnamon.

    6. Step 6

Rub in the margarine until the mixture is crumbly and just beginning to hold together.

    7. Step 7

Spoon the topping over the pears and bake at 190°C (170°C, gas mark 5) for about 30 minutes or until the crumble is cooked (the topping will not change much in appearance).

    8. Step 8

Dust with Half Spoon sugar and serve warm.

Enjoyed this very much.....will try doubling the cinnamon next time as it was rather understated in this.
