About the waffles

Add some fibre to your day the waffle way. These plant based banana wholemeal waffles are simple and satisfying. Dress them up with fruit and drizzle with maple syrup or eat them plain as an on-the-go breakfast snack.

These are best made using a waffle maker for the classic waffle design, but you can also  alternatively try them out as thick American style pancakes which are just as yummy.

Method

  1. Step 1

    Heat up your waffle maker

  2. Step 2

Mix up your flax egg ingredients so it can rest and turn to a jelly-like consistency

  3. Step 3

Mix together the dry ingredients in a large bowl

  4. Step 4

Whisk the wet ingredients together in a separate bowl or measuring jug then pour the wet into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

  5. Step 5

Spray or grease the waffle plates with a little oil and make the waffles according to your waffle iron's instructions.

Serve with the toppings of your choice. Fresh fruit and maple syrup works really great.
