This quick and simple 20 minute Microwavable Treacle Sponge is one of the most popular recipes on our website. Maybe because it takes only 20 minutes to make, it uses only 6 ingredients and its absolutely delicious served with custard or ice cream.     Method

    1. Step 1

      Mix together the eggs, flour, sugar, butter and milk.

    2. Step 2

      Grease a large pudding basin or four individual size pudding basins. Pour golden syrup into the bottom of the pudding basin(s).

    3. Step 3

      Pour the cake mix on top. Cover with cling and pierce a few times. Microwave for 5 minutes.

    4. Step 4

      Leave for 5 minutes before serving with custard.

      • 125gBillington's Unrefined Golden Caster Sugar

    Made with 3 parts normal caster sugar, and 1 part light Demerara sugar as that's what was in the cupboard. Definitely going to be a regular. Ps...use a lot of golden syrup as the sponge soaks it up.
